Recently a group of volunteers Led by Wesley had the privilege of visiting the Children at City of Refuge Orphanage in Rosarito, Baja California. Our volunteers enjoyed the day playing Soccer and and visiting with the children. They delivered food for energy (Bags of rice, Beans, etc..) and provided a sit down lunch (Subway with the Children and staff). The next visit in May/June will hopefully include much needed new nets for their soccer field goals. If you would like to sponsor or provide the Soccer Nets please email us info@sidelinesclub.org

Thanks again to the STEPHENSON POPE BABCOCK FOUNDATION for their generous continuing support for the 2010 year!

Recent trip on March 6th, 2010

On Saturday March 6th a group of volunteers including 4 teenagers delivered much needed food and supplies to The City of Refuge Orphanage in Rosarito, Baja California. It has become a tradition to organize and play soccer with the kids at City of Refuge every time we visit. This visit was special because Andrew Carrillo one of our teenage volunteers donated some new soccer balls and gloves to the kids that he had collected from his friends and soccer teamates from San Diego. Rene Mathis and his sons Chris and Marcos also donated a dozen shoes to the kids. We are encouraged to see how the children look forward to our visits and love playing soccer. We ended our visit by providing lunch from Subway for the children and staff. We look forward to our next visit in April/May 2010

As promised in December Sidelines Club sent a delegation of Volunteers to Cuidad de Refugio which included Sal, his wife Louise, Paco and Andrew (two teenagers with a heart to serve). They delivered several hundred pounds of Rice, Beans, Flour, Frozen Meat and other foods that were well received much needed! As it turned out a Soccer tournament was set up by the kids and 3 teams played a total of 13 games with the Championship game being won by Paco's Chivas team! It was the highlight of the day for the kids as soccer is always their favorite activity! Louise enjoyed her first trip to Cuidad de Refugio and stated "I had a great time serving the children and I am going to ask my co-workers to join me next time". The next trip is planned for the middle of February and hope more volunteers will join us!

On February 18th, 2009 One of our Volunteers discovered the perfect recipients of our Sidelines Club mission. The City of Refuge Orphanage which we contacted and were able to visit the very next day on Thursday the 19th with a van load of Christmas presents that were delivered to approximately 40 kids ages 3 to 13. We were excited to have Christmas in February as were the kids!! A picture says a thousand words... Don't you agree? Much thanks to the Stephenson Pope Babcock Foundation for funding the Giving Works to Mexico Program!
