KSMG Sponsors the Sidelines Club's 2010 Haiti Mission

In Times of Joy, In Times of Crisis… Sport.

Kauffman Sports Management Group is proud to announce its sponsorship of The Sidelines Club, a local 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to help student athletes realize their dreams. The Sidelines Club, though based in San Diego, CA, realizes that the neediest young athletes often live outside of the U.S.; as such, its volunteers have traveled to the Bahamas, Central America, and Haiti in an effort to realize the organization’s goals.

The dates for trip to Haiti have been determined. Our volunteers Wesley, Jeremy and Nick are set to travel to Port-au-Prince on April 25th thru April 29th, 2010. The Goal of this trip for Sidelines Club is to visit Haiti’s newly erected tent cities, which have been developed roughly 25 miles outside of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. At these tent cities, volunteers with Sidelines Club will distribute simple sporting goods to children in the community. They will also organize and teach sports to the children.

August 2009

On August 2, 2009 Wesley, Debora, Sal & Alberto flew from Miami Fl to Port-au-Prince Haiti for a seven day sports clinic with the several hundred boys of the Village of Hope (Espwa). The four volunteers took with them Basketball Rims, Basketballs, Soccer balls and other sports equipment for this mission. It is well known that Haiti is the poorest country in Western Hemisphere. Haiti is unstable and a dangerous country to say the least, the average age of the male population is 15 years old and the unemployment rate is 80%. Espwa was able to provide our volunteers with secure transportation for the 5 hour road trip from the airport to the Orphanage. It became obvious that Soccer was the sport of choice for the boys and it became the focus of our interaction with the boys. In conclusion the Impact that Sidelines Club volunteers provided was the necessary need that all boys seek! The message of Hope through a sports activity, and that message is we care!

May 2009

A recent lightning storm has struck Sidelines Club! The lightning bolt brought the opportunity for Sidelines Club to serve the children of Haiti. One of our volunteers had a fortuitous meeting with a fundraising volunteer from Theo's Work Inc. www.freethekids.org a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor children of Haiti. Because of this chance meeting Sidelines Club will be able to sponsor a three sport clinic at Hope Village on the Island of Haiti on August 2nd thru August 8th, 2009. We are grateful for this opportunity as it coincides with our annual Summer Baseball and Basketball Clinic on Andros Island, Bahamas July 27 thru July 31, 2009.
